Another bloody heatwave. 8am and my flat is already at 25C.
All the curtains closed, so all I can do is sit in the dark and listen to the radio.
Read? No I can't, because it is DARK.
Paint? No I can't, because it is DARK.
Solo board game? No I can't, because it is DARK.
Write RPG game notes? No I can't, because it is DARK.
Switch lights on to do some of the above? Yes, I can, but that creates more fekking heat. (Also it's bloody summer - I should not NEED lights!)
Muck about on the PC? Yes, I can, but that creates more fekking heat.
Watch TV? Yes, I can, but that creates more fekking heat.
Cook? Oh hell no.

27/5/26 17:03 (UTC)Yes I have windows on the shade side (e.g. bathroom). But the "open a shade side window" DOES NOT WORK. Top floor flat in an urban bloody heat island. Sealing everything and hanging "curtains" outside the windows keeps the flat to a horrific 27C when it is 30C outside. Opening a shade side window heats the flat to 29C when it is 30C outside.

26/5/26 13:31 (UTC)Good light and you don't have to change any bulbs.
In this heat, I don't want to eat... Which at least solves the cooking issue.

27/5/26 17:21 (UTC)Not cheap, but lovely even light, no heat, and cheap to run.

29/5/26 14:22 (UTC)Actually double thanks... I remembered that my smallest fan has optional LED lights built in, and that's enough light to read by or do non-finicky painting. It can also be recharged from my solar recharger, which is a bonus.
